How the Fog of Lethargy Operates

How the Fog of Lethargy Operates

By Steve Beckow

The fog of lethargy rolls in

I just noticed in myself a tremendous lethargy towards doing something about an issue involving the “institutional evil” we face, to cite Candace Owens.

Ah, leave it alone, I hear myself saying. Institutional evil has been with us since forever. As long as I can get by…. etc.

It feels like a ton of gravel lying on top of me. I can’t move.

Because it’s a mechanism I usually initiate – that is, by choice – I seldom notice it. It’s the fog of lethargy; in Hinduism, the guna or cosmic force of thamas.

I just want to sleep. Leave me alone. Not now. Not ever.

And I go back to sleep, literally and figuratively. This is not unusual. It’s routine behavior, which goes unnoticed.

***

I usually use lethargy to stop further forward progress in an area that I don’t want to discuss with others. I can later feign ignorance, busy with other things, etc.

Excuses, justifications, and denials are the tools in my “fool’s kit” – don’t want to call it a toolkit.

The news story that I’m blanketing with lethargy today is the activities of the WHO, meeting in Geneva, June 1. Another freedom convoy descending on Geneva? Gawd no. I nearly dropped from covering the last one.

Here. Let me forget about it. Call in the lethargy!  Let’s have some lethargy over here, please!

And the fog of lethargy rolls in. That’s exactly what happens were we to follow our thoughts and actions with awareness. Well, it is for me.

Ev writes in and asks me to have a look at a few stories on Geneva.

I get over the weight of thamas (lethargy) and look into what happened, Yes, the meeting of the WHO, as well as the Geneva Convoy, are gripping events.

A clear attempt at population control. The rising energies, I believe, will make such a direction ultimately untenable. It is not in the Mother’s Plan, the Divine Mother says, and thus will not occur. (1)

But we, as the articles say, need to remain vigilant to oppose it. And not let lethargy put us to sleep….

This is how lethargy operates and how it takes conscious effort to pull oneself out of it when it blankets our awareness.

(Thanks to Ev for waking me up. Articles on the WHO’s actions follow.)

(1) Divine Mother: [I am speaking about] those in … positions where control and abuse of power have been rampant. That will not be the platform [from] which integration of the various galaxies [into a new interdimensional region of space] takes place. That is not the Plan.

I know very clearly, sweet one, as do you, if it is not [in] my Plan, then it will not occur. (The Divine Mother in “Enter the Delegations – Part 2/3,” May 5, 2019, at http://goldenageofgaia.com/2019/05/05/enter-the-delegations-part-2-3/. Reading, April 30, 2019.)

Connecting the Dots on Consciousness States

Connecting the Dots on Consciousness States

Nothing but sattwa: Amelia, Kathleen’s grand-daughter

Please consider this an essay in cross-cultural spirituality. I link up western and eastern perspectives on consciousness states.

My hypothesis is that what I’m calling, after Eric Berne with changes, (1) the Adult consciousness state is the same state of consciousness that Hindus call sattwa or purity. Feel free to skip this article if it doesn’t interest you.

As pleasant as it is, my Adult is still a consciousness state. It’s a state that’s more divine than either the critical Parent or the wounded Child. But it’s still a state.

The situation appears similar to that with sattwa guna. The gunas are the cosmic forces, three of the Mother’s instruments in creating, preserving, and transforming. (2) Sattwa guna is preservative.

Sattwa is purity, and as much of all the divine qualities as a 3/4D human can hold without bursting its bonds of flesh.

Amelia perfectly illustrates it.

An avatar will be born sattwic. They are pure enough to hold that energy. When we see a sattwic individual, we might be drawn short.

Yes, Amelia. Drawn short.

I saw one in a Vancouver drugstore back around 2014.  I was sure he was a galactic, he was such a natural gentleman. I told Kathleen about him at the time.

I was drawn short and just watched him, gawking you could say. Very sattwic. Like a noble knight. Like the vision of my Universal Self I once had. (3)

But sattwa is still within the Third/Fourth Dimension.  We want to go beyond that.

***

I hypothesize that sattwa and the Adult consciousness state are one and the same. One cannot be in sattwa and not be in the Adult consciousness state; what the individual thinks and does in the Adult consciousness state is sattwic.  Both share balance, purity, love.

The two of them, supposing they were different in some way, may turn out to be the price of admission to the higher realms. Ye must be as a child, sattwic or pure, to enter the kingdom of heaven. But not as a wounded Child. Around that ye must be as an Adult.

Certainly this state and this character will prove to be extremely-important instruments for going beyond. But not the final destination.

In fact by the time First Contact comes along, we’ll have to have realized that our star family finds the conditions within which we live to be often difficult to manage. Gosh, I said that diplomatically.

They have to clean themselves thoroughly before they rejoin their starship colleagues. Nuff said on that.

But if we add to “that,” the noxious fumes of anger, jealousy, hatred – the baser feelings – we drive them away.

So not only are our bodies adapting to the demands of a higher vibration, but we ourselves are cleansing our minds of our hatreds, resentments, malintentions, etc. Both are necessary.

It’s said that some people stall and get stuck in sattwa.  They settle for satisfaction and comfort. Others have a mission, say, in business and can be described as partly sattwic (or pure) and partly rajasic (or busy, active). They’re often described as sattwo-rajasic.

Finally, there is no right or wrong about all this. It’s like Westworld. Some people are in another realm of Westworld than we are. Others are just entering. We’re all at different places in the same Westworld.

We’re all of us at different places but on the same one journey – from God to God.

Footnotes

(1) In Games People Play: The Psychology of Human Relationships. London: Penguin, 1964. Berne called the three – Parent, Adult, and Child – “ego states.” “Ego” means “I” in Latin. I consider “consciousness state” to be somewhat more commonly accepted in today’s discussions.

(2) It may be that the gunas work through AUM. Akar is creative; Ukar is preservative; and Makar is transformative.

I cite the correspondences I’ve been able to make so far and have confirmed:

Steve: I’ve read part of this quote to the Divine Mother. She’s verified it but I’ve added things to it. So I’d like to read it to you again and ask if it is correct:

Creation, preservation, and transformation = rajas, sattwa, and thamas [the gunas] = Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva [the Trimurthy] = Akar, Ukar and Makar [AUM] = inbreath, pause, and outbreath.

Archangel Michael: That is quite the expression, Sweet One, and, in that tradition and in that understanding, the answer is correct.

Steve: It is not discussed in other traditions.

AAM: No, it is not. (Archangel Michael in a personal reading with Steve Beckow through Linda Dillon, April 2, 2020.)

How We Manipulate Reality: The Role of the Cosmic Forces or Gunas

How We Manipulate Reality: The Role of the Cosmic Forces or Gunas

What’s this? What’s “New Jersey”?

As a child I had a deep belief that only what I can see around me is real. Only what I could see, exists. Only what comes into my sight needs to be taken into account.

I think of seeing Kathleen’s granddaughter, Amelia, all of two years old, staring at her Zoom class on the screen. “Oh!” Her boundaries of what’s real just got wider.

And, of course, she just accepts it all.

I’m willing to bet that, at that age, we’re unsocialized and just like little Gods, saying, “Yes! No! Yes! No! No!” As far as we know, all our commands are being obeyed. When they’re not, we cry … until they are.

***

Allow me, if you would, to extend this discussion now into what we’re doing when we as humans act.

We act by manipulating cosmic forces that the One provides us with to achieve our goals in everyday life and in our lifetime. Little Amelia’s yeses and no’s could be examples of that.

What I’m encouraging here is that we learn to use the three cosmic forces, which Hinduism calls rajas (creation), sattwa (preservation), and thamas (transformation), to manipulate our reality and take stock of our actions.

I have no experimental data to point to to bear out what I’m about to say here. It’s all hypothetical.

One day, as I’ve written about, I watched myself blanket my awareness with lethargy so that I forgot about a line of action I was contemplating.

Wow, is that how I do it?

I have to add here that, when we consider the gunas as personality traits or forces that we use, thamas becomes lethargy in Hinduism; rajas becomes busy-ness; and sattwa becomes passive purity.

I began to watch myself more closely to see of I could detect other incidents in which I used the gunas.

So far I was only able to distinguish out lethargy.

***

On the day I wrote my lethargy up, I watched myself blanket my awareness with it, such that I utterly forgot my original intention and moved on, seamlessly.

No protest. Ordinarily, no awareness of what just happened. This was me using thamas or lethargy to stop forward motion on a matter.

The descent of lethargy felt like a judge intoning “No!” from a high judgment seat. It was final, unquestioned. And I moved on, with no feelings about it.

If I forget my intentions easily and lapse into what others perceive as “doing nothing,” then we’re said to have a thamasic or lethargic nature.

I know that, when I feel rajasic, I’m craving busy-ness. When I’m busy, I reach a certain level of input and output, in the face of which I say to myself, “Hmmm… This was a good day. I feel well exercised, intellectually.”

Unless I feel like I’ve had a good trot, or even a good gallop (like here), I don’t believe I’ve gotten a lot done that day.  Then I’m crabby. I believe that’s rajas protesting.

Sattwa, of course, is the experience of love and its divine qualities or flavors or variations, like peace, joy, compassion, etc. In the face of them, our busyness falls away and our attention becomes passive and open.

This is a different kind of “doing nothing” than thamas or lethargy. And it’s a different kind of “doing something” than rajas or busyness. You could think of rajas as the gas pedal and thamas as the brakes. According to this metaphor, in sattwa, we have it in neutral!

It’s only taken me sixty years since first reading the Bhagavad-Gita to be able to watch myself and see the operation of the gunas, provided what I say is correct.

If I’m not, then, in correcting me, you’ll establish what’s correct. That’s how our knowledge grows and evolves.

For now, I’m content to watch the rise of a new and good idea and observe myself get to work on it, all energized (rajas), reject certain other ideas and blanket them in lethargy so that they disappear from my attention (thamas), and sit back in satisfaction and the cessation of desire at the end of it, when the job is done (sattwa).

I seem to be using the gunas and they’re using me. I use the gunas to “do” (rajas) and “not do” (thamas), and appraise and enjoy (sattwa). On the cosmic level, the Mother uses the gunas to accomplish her aims and unfold her Plan: build worlds and ascend worlds.

Creation, preservation, and transformation – the Mother’s pattern for the material world – is here manifesting as the gunas or cosmic forces.
