In a 2022 lecture at Notre Dame, Alasdair MacIntyre argued that the claims and conceptions of universal and inalienable human dignity as reflected in documents such as the 1948 United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in various post-war European constitutions are puzzling, since this dignity requires a duty of respect to everyone just for being human, no matter their behavior or character, so Stalin the mass murderer has as much dignity and deserves as much respect as Mother Teresa. Aquinas’ view of dignitas as interpreted by Charles De Koninick is a challenge to this view, for it assigns human dignity, not to the mere fact of being human, but to the end to which we are called, which is supernatural, union with God, which might not be attained due to one’s choices on earth against those common goods which enable our attainment of the supernatural end, and so human dignitas could be lost. According to this view, the 20th-century concept of human dignity is much too individualistic, and because it is not based in justice and the common good, can only provide negative prescriptions against the undignified treatment of humans. It is unable to provide positive prescriptions that enable persons to obtain the common goods and the virtues they need to attain their supernatural end. For MacIntyre, we need to speak of human dignity in terms of justice, what we owe to each other for the sake of enabling persons to attain their personal and common goods and final end, which is the knowledge and love of God in this life and the next.

Since late February 2022 Russia’s war with Ukraine has dominated the global headlines, but what may have been the most important incident in that conflict has received only a sliver of coverage in the Western mainstream media.

One year ago tomorrow a series of massive underwater explosions destroyed most of the $30 billion Russian-German Nord Stream Pipelines, probably Europe’s most important civilian energy infrastructure. All observers soon agreed that the blasts had been deliberate, likely constituting the greatest case of industrial terrorism in world history and an obvious act of war against Germany, NATO’s leading European member. And then in lock-step, nearly all Western media outlets declared that the Russians had destroyed their own pipelines, an action further demonstrating the dangerous insanity of President Vladimir Putin, our diabolical Moscow adversary. Only a handful of voices on the dissident fringe suggested otherwise.

But five months later the issue was suddenly resurrected. When so many corporate and government fiefdoms are dependent on COVID-19 money in a time of historic economic contraction, occupational and advertising ideologies develop to redefine what viruses are. Ideology is not a mere idea or scientific definition but a rationale to cover up economic interests, such as free enterprise ideology covering up a monopoly economy, communism camouflaging oligarch wealth concentration or vegetables are health food not poisons.  George Bernard Shaw expressed it this way: “Every profession (occupation) is a conspiracy against the laity”.   Sociologist Peter Berger describes how occupational ideology operates: “it is much easier to deceive ourselves, given that, the liar, by definition, knows he is lying, but the ideologist does not.”  So, getting an accurate conception of bugaboo viruses is nearly sociologically impossible in a welfare capitalist state due to so many vested interests by those in power and secrecy surrounding bioweapons...

The July military coup in the west African country of Niger has once again brought attention to the fact that the US government runs a global military empire that serves Washington’s special interests, and not the national interest.

Before the coup made news headlines, most Americans – including many serving in Congress – had no idea the US government maintains more than 1,000 troops stationed on several US bases in Niger. But it’s even worse than that. A recent report in The Intercept suggests the Pentagon repeatedly misled Congress about the extent and the cost of the US presence in Niger.

According to The Intercept, “in testimony before the House and Senate Armed Services Committees in March, the chief of US Africa Command described Air Base 201 (in Niger) as ‘minimal’ and ‘low cost.’” In fact the US government has spent a quarter of a billion dollars on the base since construction began in 2016.

So when did Congress declare war so as to legalize US military operations in Niger? They didn’t. But as Kelley Vlahos writes in Responsible Statecraft, US troops have been...

Well, it turns out that Catholic missionaries in Canada weren’t running genocidal concentration camps for decades and hiding hundreds of dead children from the public. I know, what a shocker!

If you are unaware, in 2021 a narrative was released in Canada that Catholic boarding schools—officially called Residential Schools—had buried hundreds of children in unmarked “mass graves” over decades. The impetus for this complete hoax was the alleged discovery of human skeletons under the ground on Native Land where the schools used to operate. Of course, what were allegedly skeletons were simply aberrations in the soil, which included things like rocks, tree roots, and other non-human things.

The narrative exploded overnight, and as a result, many Catholic churches were razed and others vandalized. It was remarkable to live through, as it was in the summer of 2021 when vaccine hatred really started to ramp up. It was a very difficult time to be a Catholic Canadian, and a vaccine heretic at that.
