Prolotheos: “I see that you have paid much attention to certain ancient existential questions about God and His relationship with human beings, especially the ones that really know Him and call themselves children, friends and even servants of God. I do encourage you to enlist these questions in our conversation, no matter how startling they may appear at first sight. So begin. Question away!

1. Why does it Occasionally Seem that God is Indifferent?

“The impression that God is indifferent to your situation comes from your inability to see the answers God has given to your prayers and claims. If God is in fact, silent (and He might choose to be silent) it is because the right time for Him to respond has not arrived, either because the circumstances are not appropriate or because you wouldn’t, at that moment, understand His answer. You should consider that in fact, even God’s silence is an answer to you. God is never indifferent to you or your life.

2. Why does it Occasionally Seem that God is Inconsistent?

“Again, the appearance that God is inconsistent is only a limited human impression, due to a misleading conclusion. God, in His absolute perfection, cannot ever be ultimately inconsistent with Himself. Sure, facts, and even acts of God and credit to God may sometimes appear contradicting, but ultimately, they are not. God’s logic is infinite, impenetrable, and beyond the creature’s total understanding. God’s plans unveil into His Universe Ages and you may be assured that while they now may look inconsistent, at the end of this age, they will look logical to man, even infinite, because God Himself is infinite. However, God is never, in any way, inconsistent.

3. Why does it Ocasionally Seem that God is Inconsequential?

“Nothing God does is inconsequential. The actions of God concerning human beings are of two orders: justice and providence. Justice reveals the universal goodness, truth and beauty (perfection) of God to his children. Providence is God supplying everything that man really needs, once he has chosen to follow God’s path. Again, it is your human incapacity to see God’s actions that lead to the misconception that God could be inconsequential. All that pertains to you matters to God and He always acts in regard to your ultimate well-being. Rest assured, God is never inconsequential.

“Thanks, my pupil, for these important questions about commonplace misconceptions about God that have troubled human beings from Job to nowadays. Simply put, God could never be indifferent, inconsistent or inconsequential, because He is, after all, perfect! However, God understands that those are questions that human beings, His children, sometimes harbor in their thoughts and, if they are sincere and honest, God is never tired of again and again answering them and showing them that He is never any of these!

Prolotheos: “Eternity in Universal Philosophy is defined as cycles — unending cycles. One way to see the life of ascendant children of God is to understand it as a rising, infinite cycle. This idea connotes both repetition, progress and elevation. In life, events, situations, circumstances reappear as if they were running in circles, but they are only similar and dynamic cycles, because although they seem the same, they are not identical. Every human being experiences birth, life and death, but the specifics of each life, for although similar, are very distinct from each other. In this opportunity let us pause to reflect on the Seasons of Life and how to make the most of them. In general we can find three kinds of seasons in the life of mature human beings.

“The Season of Planning. Human beings usually do not do things randomly. As beings with personality, you also do not do things purely automatically or instinctively. You are capable of planning, capable of analyzing a move before performing the actual move. You can prepare and analyze your plans in your mind before executing them, to know what could be the possible consequences of your actions. There are also things that humans do without needing to plan them every time. Once you execute a certain action with success, you are capable of repeating it based on the previous experience. But, human beings spend much of their mental activity planning their actions, and rightly so, because to do things without thinking can have disastrous consequences.

“The Season of Doing. Those that spend too much time planning, but never doing are those who are afraid to take risks. Every action brings a possibility of failure. Humans, although intelligent beings, are incapable of covering all the possibilities, which the Deities and some Divine Sons can do to perfection, including the Deities of all universes, and the Divine Sons to specific areas of their jurisdiction. Actions have a tendency to produce unexpected results that sometimes cannot be corrected. In planning and evaluating the possible results one is liable to miss something important. However, to never act for being afraid of consequences is called cowardice. Experiences, good or bad, accrue to one’s personal growth. You cannot grow if you do not have the courage to do what you think is right and necessary.

“The Season of Rest. There are beings in the universe of universes who never need to rest. They were created for the function that is in their nature and for eternity they will discharge those functions without needing rest. That is not the case with human beings. Here in the morontia worlds and even in eternity, human beings always will need and enjoy seasons of worship, rest and play. Those are things that are done for the sake of themselves. In executing assigned works you contribute to goals beyond yourself. The seasons of worship, rest and play you perform to simply enjoy them. Worship, rest and play are as important and necessary as planning and doing. So, reserve time for rest, both physical, mental and spiritual.

“Therefore, my pupil, learn to discriminate between these seasons and again listen to the words of old: ‘There is a season for everything.’ To know what to do at the right moment is something that cannot be overvalued; it is essential to your life if you want to be in charge of it as much as you can be. Although perfect knowledge in these areas is almost impossible, you do have help available to you. First, listen to the Spirit Within incessantly guiding you towards the will of God. Also seek advice that more experienced people may have and research things that puzzle you. The answer is both within and out there. I am Prolotheos, your any-time available teacher and tutor. Teacher Prolotheos: “True and absolute unity can only be found in the Trinity, in which the diversity of three existential Persons of deity is perfectly unified in one God. To understand unity, consider that there is no need for unity where there is no diversity, and diversity is made of units. In God, and in God’s creation, both diversity and individuality are real. In your quest for unity, make sure you will not destroy individuality, but look for commonalities among you. The vital questions for our message today are: What will unite your world? Which commonalities should you seek? Here are some of them…

“Contemplate first how your origin unites you all in civilization. Families, tribes and nations are all based in a common origin. Ancestry is the most powerful unifying element of the human race. However, when this is viewed in a restricted way, it is also the greatest divider among you. To unite the world you must value foremost the most distinctive origin of all: God. The day on which most humans will realize their common, divine ancestry in the One God, represented by their diverse deity concepts, will be the day when you start the human brotherhood based in the fatherhood of God.

“Next, think of how many goals could unite you in your endeavors. Common goals are capable of uniting you beyond blood. Having common goals is not simply having the same goals. Same goals can be pursued separately, but common goals require your cooperation in their pursuit. However, first the individuals need to espouse the same unifying goals, and then others will join in their worldwide pursuit. Many different goals are capable of unifying human beings, but to keep them together it is necessary to unify them in the supreme goal of doing the will of the God, both as individuals, and as a group.

“Lastly, consider how experience unites you with others, and how common experiences may unite the human race. Unfortunately, they usually are experiences of suffering that unite people, and most often, large unifying efforts come about in times of war. Natural tragedies and noble causes as to minimize the suffering of a particular group of people or nations, also bring about unity among the peoples. Still, the experience which should unite all peoples on Urantia, is the most basic of all – the experience of living. All peoples should basically enjoy good conditions of living, with equal access to employment, housing, health, education and leisure.

“Therefore, my pupil, Urantians already have the resources capable of uniting them – your common origins, common goals and common experiences. Now, use these resources in a global and equal manner to unify you as the human race. Not with seasonal campaigns, but with a program of a global government, with real political and economic power to gradually bring social equality among the nations, which will extinguish poverty and wars that today constitute your most backward features. Realize, once and for all that you are all brothers and sisters, children of one and only loving God. I am Prolotheos, your Teacher and Tutor on High.”

Prolotheos: “Given the current overall conditions on your world, many are wondering in their hearts: How can Urantia ever reach a global and enduring peace for its inhabitants? The answer is: By becoming dead-set serious about righting its governments’ flaws, correcting their spiritual forgetfulness and by their pressing towards the promotion of human values that will give enduring peace a real chance on your planet. Here are some of the most important issues:

“Human Dignity has two aspects: Bestowed dignity and achieved dignity. The former comes from the humans’ origin. As beings created by God they carry the dignity of being children of God. The latter is human dignity predicted by the exercise of free choice that either chooses, or does not, the will of God. By such an exercise they either honor or despise that God -bestowed dignity. Genuine world peace will come from the acknowledgment of your human brotherhood, by which we are all brothers and sisters in the family of God, as well as by the progressive evolution from racial immaturity that feeds on conflicts to racial enlightenment that recognizes God’s fatherhood for all.

“Human Solidarity besides being a caring affection for all human beings it also speaks about all humans uniting by experiencing this loving feeling for each other. Enduring peace will flourish on Urantia when human solidarity will be a cultural value in its societies as a result of a higher spiritual enlightenment from the ministry of successive epochal bestowals of the Sons of God already scheduled to visit your planet. This will culminate in the Era of Light and Life, a time still far away from your current spiritual stage on Urantia. Today’s human solidarity on Urantia is still embryo-like, sponsored by peace-loving individuals, groups and movements, those involved in philanthropic projects, poverty relief efforts and general social assistance. However, days will come when solidarity will grow robust to make wars totally obsolete for it is incompatible with those loving and caring feelings of those highly spiritualized Urantians.

“Human Unity is the result of the effectual attainment of the already-mentioned conditions. Urantia embarked, after the Lucifer Rebellion, on a disastrous course of licentious self-determination of its still immature racial factions installing a deeply rooted multi-faceted separatism which complete eradication will still take considerable time. Human Unity will spring on Urantia as a planetary reality when there will be one language, one blended race, one planetary government and one coordinated and fair global economy. Unfortunately, global unity efforts on Urantia are yet only meager efforts, still holding back to greed, power, as well as racial and nationalistic pride. Peace requires true unity — spiritual in kind — if it is to last for the generations to come.

“Never on your world was peace treated with such total disregard, considering the high stakes at play, as the current possibility of a nuclear conflict that can easily escalate to global proportions. Stop the madness! Come to your senses. Abandon your nationalistic arrogance and walk towards understanding, dialogue and negotiation. Such a war now will retard your social development for centuries, while on the other hand peace is a promise for progress and well-being of Urantia for the centuries ahead. Make human dignity, solidarity and global unity the goals of your planetary advancement, based on the acknowledgment and good use of your spiritual endowments as children of the One God, our Universal Father. Prolotheos: “Evil is exceedingly bewildering for human beings on Urantia. Most of you conceive of evil as being the opposite of God, and you wonder how evil and God can co-exist. Such a contrasting view is understandable — God, being your highest value of goodness — but it is incorrect. There is no comparison between the unique and infinite person that is God and anything else. Evil is not the opposite of good. Evil has its origin in creatures and is, in fact, a negation of the goodness of God revealed in His will. Therefore, evil has no bona fide origin. Consider these basic concepts about evil:

“Evil exists, but it is not enduring. Philosophically speaking, it could be said that evil exists, but is not ontologically real. It exists, but it lacks enduring reality substance because only that which primarily originates in God has bona fide reality and is endowed with enduring existence. Evil brings in itself the seed of rebellion against God and the consequent destruction of itself. Also, it could be said that evil is an aberration of the goodness of God. Goodness is expression of God's nature, but evil has no nature. Evil is devoid of substance. Evil is just ‘un-reality’ in progress — the non-being becoming unreal.

“To be effective, evil must be embraced. God created humans by granting them the faculty of will. Human free will actually is free and sovereign only to determine the individual’s eternal destiny: with God by choosing to do the will of God, or without God (as if never having been) by rejecting the will of God and having embraced the non-reality of evil. Evil, if left to itself, can be devastating and certainly will destroy even those that identify themselves with it. It may not always appear aesthetically ugly. It is, however, always eternally spiritually fatal, when ultimately embraced by the individual.

“Evil succumbs before faith. Faith in God is an invulnerable spiritual shield. Evil cannot ever penetrate it. Faith guards your mind and protects your soul. Faith is believing in the spiritual and in the eternal beyond your earthly life. Faith is desiring being with God accompanied by a sincere and constant striving for doing the will of God. Faith is not theological accuracy. It is about sincerity and the certainty of eternal values — even if these values may be misrepresented by the individual’s religious confession. Evil can never prevail over a believer that has chosen to wholeheartedly believe in his God.

“So, my pupil, do not fear evil. Your planet was tainted by evil with the Lucifer Rebellion and it is still encrusted in your civilization, through supposed sovereign and independent nations, preventing your world to act as one, as the human race is one, and instigating endless wars between the nations. However, God’s Bestowal Plan through His divine and Paradise Sons is functional on Urantia and will ultimately render ineffective these evil residues of the Lucifer Rebellion and it will ensue the enduring reality of the Kingdom of God promised by Jesus of Nazareth.

Prolotheos: “Before Urantia is ushered into the era of Light and Life, it is necessary to create a real Human Brotherhood on your planet. Jesus of Nazareth called this the Human Brotherhood of the “Kingdom of God” for the lack of a better term for the Jews of His time. Paul, the apostle, mistakenly called it “the Church” or “the Body of Christ” made up exclusively of Christians, therefore not really a Human Brotherhood. The Human Brotherhood is both spiritual and social because first of all, it is made of human beings living in society and secondly, it is spiritual because it is based on the Fatherhood of the One God — Father of All. Human interchange will help the Human Brotherhood become a Urantia reality.

“Economic Interchange. Money is a great human drive. On it depends the material development of your civilization and for it people travel the world back and forth. Commercial trade has always being an effective civilizer: the desire for money will make human beings disregard cultural and religious differences — even adapt to them in order to maximize their profit. Merchant people are great missionaries, advertising their products, but also trading cultural and religious viewpoints. They not only brought their influences, but they likewise were influenced. Commercial trade contributes to peace among nations.

“Cultural Interchange. Culture is the collective repository of artistic, scientific and social values of a given people or society. The interchange of these values will teach individuals of one nation to know and appreciate the culture of others. Most wars come from fear, and ignorance is the mother of all fears. Mutual knowledge among nations will greatly diminish the suspicions of origin in ignorance. Your Nobel Awards are a noble initiative in this field, as are the periodic Olympic Games. Much can still be done by the more advanced nations in the scientific field by their sharing progress in medicine and technology as well as in education, through an increase in students’ exchange programs and international scholarships.

“Religious Interchange. The interchange in the religious arena is yet very poor on Urantia. It is in need of a major ecumenical stimulus — one that is beyond the organizational level, bringing actual cooperative service towards pressing human needs. Religious interchange will only become a reality on your planet when major religions acknowledge both the universal fatherhood of God, and the brotherhood of all humans beings, based on the former. These sentiments are already present in humanity and in most of the individuals that have a religious inclination. They need, however, a unifying initiative through association with human beings — not through associations with organizations and institutions.

“Therefore, my pupil, concentrate your efforts on the religious aspect in disseminating your influence with others. Without proselytism, however, but by showing no prejudice so you will inhibit the otherwise likely prejudice in others. Preach and live the universal aspects of the Gospel taught and lived by Jesus of Nazareth for that is lacking of the "-isms" that religions, sects and cults advocate. No change will happen overnight. Social and religious changes will not advance at the pace of technology in your world, although it has been faster since the Renaissance. Evolution also rules these aspects of human life. And evolution, although it is tremendously efficient, unceremoniously takes its time.

Prolotheos: “Once you become familiar with the truths of higher revelation from the Urantia Papers that were brought to your world, it is quite normal that as a consequence your aspirations will also become highly enhanced. Mankind has already evolved to a level your ancestors could never have imagined. Although there is not much more physical evolution to be expected, evolution is still at work concerning your senses and there is much evolution ahead related to technology, society and spirituality.

“Material Progress — You on Urantia are now ushered into the so-called digital era, which has brought to you much progress, especially in automatization of tasks. That is the kind of progress that will develop faster and faster in your world. Science will anchor technology and will push it to levels never dreamed of by your generation. However, technological progress without the corresponding social and spiritual progress it is too dangerous for your world. The ideal is that the less time human beings dedicate to labor, the more time they will apply to perfect their social and spiritual skills.

“Social Progress — Progress in this area is still slow in your world due to the great differences in economic, cultural and religious aspects of diverse nations on Urantia. Intolerance, prejudice, fear and mutual suspicions are the basic causes of these differences. Developed nations must reach the poor ones to improve their way of life by helping with basic infra-structure, education, and health. Poor and developing nations must learn to improve their government by choosing leaders that have the best of the public interest at heart — not demagogs — besides rejecting tyrannic views and interests. Furthermore, increasing global interactions in commerce, education, and sports should be perfected, as they will help you to discover the common denominator as the human race. That is, you are all brothers and sisters in one human family.

“Spiritual Progress — Although great spiritual advance has come to your world after the Bestowal of Christ Michael, Urantia still misses an encompassing cosmic view of spirituality. Only recently with the arrival of the Urantia Papers on your world, this kind of spirituality has begun to function, however, still in a very small way. Social events certainly can contribute to the retrogression of spirituality in your civilization. Religion must become a global affair, so it can effectively unite people of diverse faith viewpoints. There is no chance for spirituality to develop while the individual does not gain a true insight of the Universal Father by faith and practice of the universal values of goodness, truth, and beauty (harmony).

“Therefore, my pupil, your aspirations for a better Urantia, is not at all baseless. That is also the purpose of the Gods and most directly of Michael, who, to guarantee these advances to all worlds of Nebadon, did incarnate on your world as Jesus of Nazareth. Do not worry, your world carries the badge of being the home of the Sovereign of Nebadon, and it certainly will be enlightened to inherit all the material, social and spiritual progress that such a world will develop. Your personal aspirations, if of spiritual value, will also be fulfilled, if not there on Urantia, certainly here in the celestial realms.
